The owners of the songs are the artists who sang the songs, lyricists who wrote them and the musicians who composed the music. This web site would have no value whatsoever without their creative efforts in the first place.
I have benefitted immensely from the open source computer programs all along. The technological aspect of this web site was completely facilitated by those software. See Technology section for more details.
As mentioned elsewhere, the initial attempt to set up a songs database was made while I was at the Ruhuna University, Sri Lanka as early as 1995. Many people contributed songs to that project but the names of a few people deserve mentioning: Nilani De Silva, Roshan Perera, Krishanthi Hewabowalage.
This fantastic site was my ultimate source for lyrics. Without Sinhala Juke Box I would have had a very hard time finding most of the songs. What is the most reliable way to find the lyrics of a song than to listening to the song myself? Looking for a song? Sinhala Juke Box has it!
I discovered this somewhat late. This site contains the lyrics of quite a few classical sinhala songs.
A big helping hand is given by Udeni Perera who has already helped me add the chords to a large number of songs. This is a painstaking task that takes a lot of time. Thank you Udeni!
Gehan, one fan of the site, came forward to help fill the mostly missing names of the lyricists and the musicians. This is a big task and the work is not complete yet. But with his generous help, I am slowly but surely getting there.
My very special thanks to Krishanthi Jayewardena for creating the artwork, proof reading and for her love and support throughout the project.
